July 18th, Amman-As part of its efforts with regional and international actors, the Jordanian Interfaith Coexistence Research Center announces the creation of the Coexistence Dialogue Forum. This Forum comes as a direct result of JICRC’s July conference, Muslims and Christians Serving Human Dignity. The conference itself saw an unprecedented focus on the sweeping trends of the MENA region and the focused turnout of regional activists and decision-makers from religious and political spheres.
As a direct consequence of debate and discussions among participants, JICRC and its conference partners released a Final Statement with the full support of conference attendees. The Final Statement outlines the Coexistence Dialogue Forum “as a multidisciplinary initiative for open dialogue.” The Forum’s unique interaction with MENA events “will ensure involvement across the spheres of religion, politics, diplomacy and culture(s).”
The Dialogue Forum will be administrated by JICRC but include the full involvement of regional and international leaders through a Preparatory Committee. Through global support and building on the momentum of JICRC’s past initiatives, the Forum will become “one of the first regionally administrated but internationally supported programs to recognize the unique crossroads created by the aforementioned spheres in North Africa and the Middle East.”
